Analysis of Common Issues with Bag Filters

Bag filters are pressure-based filtration devices primarily composed of a filter housing, housing cover, quick-opening mechanism, and stainless steel mesh basket to support the filter bag. Inside the bag filter, the filter bag is supported by a metal mesh basket. Liquid flows in from the inlet, passes through the filter bag, and exits through the outlet, while impurities are trapped within the filter bag. Once the filter bag is replaced, the system can continue to operate. The machine is designed for easy filter bag replacement, with minimal material loss during filtration. However, certain issues may arise during the use of bag filters. Below, we address and analyze some of the more prominent problems.

1. Determining the Size of Impurities
To understand the size of impurities, you can purchase filter bags with different pore sizes and conduct tests to determine which pore size delivers the best filtration quality and practical results. Alternatively, you can consult the filter manufacturer. Manufacturers have extensive experience and technical teams, and you can invite them to conduct an on-site inspection. They will provide you with a satisfactory solution.

2. Turbid Filtrate After Filtration
There are generally two reasons for turbid filtrate from bag filters. First, the filter cloth may be damaged. Filter cloth is prone to damage when exposed to hard impurities, and any tears or holes in the cloth can reduce filtration efficiency, leading to turbid filtrate. Second, the filter cloth may have too few pores. Fewer pores mean larger filtration holes, resulting in lower filtration efficiency and turbid filtrate. In most cases, selecting the appropriate filter bag and applying the correct pressure will prevent turbidity in the filtered liquid.
